Microsoft problems? Here’s your help!

Windows 7 is the latest operating system from the Windows series. Oh, in case you didn’t know, that’s Microsoft property. Anyhow, Windows 7 was kind of successful actually. I mean, the OS was simply superb giving superior performance and also, it could run on almost any computer as well. Okay, that’s about Windows 7. Wait, you already know this stuff. Ah, I just wasted half my page on stuff that you already know. I guess there’s no point crying now. Let’s just look at what this article is about.

The issue

Windows 7 contains an inbuilt video player, Windows Media Player. Again, this is probably something you already know. Anyhow, Windows Media Player (WMP) isn’t what you call as an inclusive package. You see, what comes with the operating system isn’t a complete package. You won’t be able to play some video formats using this player. For example, WMP cannot play MKV files. MKV is a new format, which takes up lesser space than conventional video formats. So I guess you can understand why this is an issue.

But then again, this need not be a serious issue. I mean, if you download an all inclusive codec package for your WMP, you won’t have such Microsoft problems. But how do you do that?

Well, you’re in luck today. You see, I’ve included the steps for that too. Check out the instructions below!

Troubleshooting instructions

  1. Switch on your computer and, umm, wait until the OS boots up. Once that’s done, launch your web browser, which in your case is probably Internet Explorer. On a serious note, once you’re done with this article, download any of those new age browsers. They are way better!
  2. Now, use Google and search for a codec pack like CCCP, K-lite, Media Player Codec Pack etc. It won’t take much time if you have a fast internet connection. Anyhow, download whichever codec pack you can lay your hands on. Technically, it’s your mouse, but hey, whatever!
  3. Double click on the downloaded package and install it in your system. This isn’t difficult, just follow the installation wizard.
  4. Once you’re done with the installation, restart your computer so that it can be properly configured. Upon restart, try playing the required video. It shouldn’t show any error!

That should take care of all Microsoft problems related to playback. In case it doesn’t, well, check out other solutions as well. Try Googling ‘Microsoft problems’. That’ll do!
